Dad and Mom, they are both doing reasonably well. Dad is home from the hospital following the second amputation (they took the right leg above the knee). Two and one half months in the hospital was too much for him. He continues therapy (OT, PT and ST) at home. As well as having a nurse some to assess his needs and oversee his progress. Dad is making great progress. His speech is much better than a month ago. There are still the slow connections and searching for particular words. BUt, that is common. He has found a stash of vocabulary that he hadn't commonly used before. One of my favorite quotes about the Physical Therapist. "He has a magnificent propensity to arrive at lunchtime." Everyday he surprises us with his reawakened eloquence. He is doing well. One day at a time (trite but true). I admire his determination, resolve and desire to get better. He is amazing.
Mom is doing better too. She is home as well. Back to her schedule as much as possible. She becomes tired more easily and needs help with housework, shopping, errands, and other things that that sap her energy more so than they did before. But, overall she feels better and as with my Dad, we take it day by day.
Everyone else is doing well (knock, knock) and getting ready for the Holidays. They arrive faster and faster every year. Everyday is exciting with Gracie. She LOVES (her word) Christmas! She finds Christmas joy each and every day! THe other night she and I (yes, just the two of us) went caroling. Actually, we never ventured outside to torment the neighbors. We stayed in the living room. She enjoyed it so much. Even though neither of us can carry a tune (no howling dogs) nor remember the words to the songs we were singing!
Love to all!
Say goodnight Gracie.....
Fun in The Snow!
